Every question here is about how somebody is behaving towards you, and every answer points at a section of the law you can read yourself. It says nothing about your visa, your eligibility or your chances, because only a registered migration agent or an Australian legal practitioner may tell you that.

A MARN is seven digits. Type it and this will tell you whether the format is even possible, then take you straight to the government register to read the entry.
Second check, and the one people skip: has this person already been disciplined? We report every decision the regulator has published, searchable by name or MARN — search the disciplinary decisions. An agent with no history will not appear there at all, which is the normal case.
A lawyer has no MARN — they came off the OMARA register on 22 March 2021 and are regulated by their state legal services commissioner instead. That is not a red flag; check their practising certificate on the relevant state register instead.
